A feline Game of (Furry) Thrones...

For several years, there was only one occupant of The Chair of State in our home. The feline king, of Russian descent, of this particular castle had in fact inherited this kitsch throne on the sad demise of his much-loved predecessor, himself of Siamese origin...

Admittedly, the regal seat had itself been snatched from its rightful owner - a new-born human, many years before. Once the baby in question had grown sufficiently to realise the offense of lèse-majesté that had been committed, it was too late to reclaim the throne. Not only had the furry usurper already taken possession of the royal seat, he had also embarked on a sweeping mission to steal the high-chair, pram and all other regal paraphernalia. Moreover, the Chair of State had undergone some aesthetic changes in order to make it more appropriate for its illegitimate occupant. The pastel tones were replaced by something surely more fitting - with a little more 'bite'...

Little changed over the years... until last September. The arrival of another feline, a female from Siberia, with bossy, if not Bolshie tendencies, has led the current monarch to keep a watchful eye over the activity in his lands. Sensing that the occupancy of the throne was under threat, certain tensions had arisen... The monarch was becoming increasingly disgruntled, as the new claimant made herself more and more at home, often 'keeping the throne warm' whenever it was left empty.

"We are not amused".
To avoid feline friction in the kingdom, urgent diplomactic measures were required...
A throne of similar appearance was duly called for, and in due turn was introduced to the royal household and promptly occupied by the princess...

...Who has indeed found it to her taste, and has relinquished all cunning plans to steal the authentic seat of power. Nevertheless, despite the success of the peace-keeping strategy there have been other, rather unexpected developments in the kingdom. The monarch has decided that this alternative chair of state is to his taste too, and has decided to stake a claim on this new jewel in the crown. As a result, the spoilt princess is obliged to keep a beady eye open at all times... Meanwhile, the 'real' throne has momentarily been adandoned by both!
